The sushi also garners significant praise, with many pleasantly surprised by its freshness and taste given its unique placement in a fish and chip shop. Pre-ordering large sushi meals is a popular strategy among regulars, ensuring efficiency without compromising on quality.
The friendly owners and their personal touch in customer service create a welcoming experience that patrons truly appreciate. Whether you crave a takeaway meal during a sunset stroll along the esplanade or a relaxing lunch out, this spot consistently delivers.
Some customers express skepticism about the combination of sushi offerings in a traditional fish and chip shop, though many admit to being pleasantly surprised by the quality upon trying it.
The seating can fill up quickly during peak lunch and dinner times, occasionally leading to longer wait times for dine-in guests. It's a busy spot, which is a testament to its popularity but may be a downside for those looking for a quick sit-down meal.
A few reviews mention the limited menu options compared to specialized sushi restaurants, but overall, the unique blend of offerings compensates for this by providing a distinctive dining experience.
I do a hours travel to come get my fish and chips some of the best fish an chips in Kent with great value for money an I highly recommend this chippy
I was a little skeptical when ordering sushi from a fish and chip shop, but I have not been disappointed in the slightest! The food was amazing, the raw fish tasted fresh and was better quality than I've had at a lot of other sushi places in Canterbury. The hot food was cooked in front of me so was still hot long after I took it home to eat, as well as tasting amazing and authentic
We had promised ourselves a fish and chips supper whilst watching the sunset from Herne Bay's Western Esplanade. A Google Map search revealed Kings Fish Bar as having a very good rating, and is close to the Western Esplanade. There are a number of unrestricted parking spaces on either side of the road. There were no other customers, so served quickly. I ordered two medium fish and chips, and two bottles drinks, paid, and took the drinks to the car. On returning, I saw a sign in the window stating 'Seniors Fish and Chips' £6.50. I asked if that price was on certain days. She said it was available anytime, and was happy to change my order, even though they had battered the fish I had ordered. She did explain the offer was for small fish and chips. I stuck with my previous order to save them any inconvenience. I left the shop with the boxed order, drove to the esplanade, and ate. The food was still piping hot, and plentiful. There were sufficient chips left over to take home and grill the next day. The batter was light and crisp, and the fish was moist, not wet, which we prefer. Next time we will order the Senior's amount as my wife is not a big eater. The staff were extremely polite and helpful. The sunset? Too much cloud, but still managed a walk to the pier and back. We will definitely use 'The Kings Fish Bar' again.
Lovely couple run this shop, I believe they are Japanese. I'm old and generally just eat cooked food but this Take away has an extensive menu including Sushi. I use this shop fairly often. Lovely couple, great Fish & Chips.
The servers worked really hard to prepare a large order of hot sushi and the presentation taste and timing was perfect! As it was a large order I pre o ordered and paid a few hours earlier for them to have time to prepare it. They were punctual and the food was hot when it arrived home. It was so delicious we had E-bike Fry Chicken Katsu Tori Kara and all of the different flavours gyoza a: pork duck chicken and vegetable. There are also honey chicken wings. The price is good as it is traditional Japanese food served in Japanese take away containers with real Japanese wari bashi chopsticks- thank you Kings- you are King!!!!
Used this fish and chip shop for the first time Friday eve before going to cinema with family. Wasn't cheap but what is now a days. What was expensive was pickles, eggs, and onions two each added £5 pound to the bill and they were small. My grandad use to use these. They were very polite helpful and kind went out there way to meet my needs. Will use again they even have a sushi chef selling fresh sushi and all kinds now find that in a chip shop today. Will try that next time.
Have always got my fish and chips from Kings Fish Bar and when we found out there had been a change of ownership were a bit unsure about whether it would be the same. Well I have to say it was just as good, if not better, than before. The fish was a really good size and delicious and the chips were great. Will definitely continue getting my fish and chips from here!
